“Zan-Zan” is one of Ava’s best friends.  Very sporty and active, but with a sensitive soul, he likes writing poetry and painting, which impresses Ava a lot.  Zander is the best soccer player in school and has a very accepting and open heart, which his parents have tried very hard to encourage.  His mom, Rose, is trans and very much into social justice.  She works with a labor union and is part of a multicultural activism circle.
